Gautham Banasandra Ashoka is a highly skilled software engineer with a passion for building distributed and scalable systems. With over 3 years of experience, he has worked on a range of projects that have honed his expertise in software development, particularly in C++. Gautham graduated from PES Institute of Technology, Bangalore with a B.E. degree in Computer Science. He has interned at Microsoft Research and worked as a Software Development Engineer at Couchbase, an Open Source NoSQL database company. Currently, Gautham is working as a Software Engineer II on the Cosmos team at Microsoft, where he is focused on Apache Hadoop YARN. Gautham is an algorithmic whiz and actively participates in competitive coding contests. In his free time, he contributes to Open Source projects, including Apache Hadoop, Google's Chromium, and Node.js. Gautham's past work experience includes working as a Senior Software Engineer and Software Engineer at Couchbase. During his time there, he created a distributed, scalable, real-time event processing engine called Couchbase Eventing. He also developed a sandboxed runtime using Google’s v8 engine to execute JavaScript code in a distributed environment. Additionally, he worked on a feature that allows running queries from the sandbox with semantics such as streaming iterators, intelligent query cancellation, and lazy query execution, as part of the language features. Gautham also developed a networking library to perform network calls from the sandbox. Gautham's education history includes a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree in Computer Science from PES University, as well as a background in high school and primary school education.
